The person who held the pen is now inside the sentence. The ending is no longer only theirs to edit.

Why it works

A writer who enters, is pulled into, or is rewritten by their own story collapses the safe distance between maker and made. Stakes become personal. Revisions become dangerous. The characters the author once controlled can now refuse, rewrite, or claim them. The device supplies instant meta-tension, a clear power reversal, and a reason the “real” world and the fictional one must negotiate the same hallway.
