The arrogant party has been corrected in front of witnesses. A recurrent condition in which the satisfaction of a decisive face-slap is followed by rapid tolerance, requiring progressively larger or more public humiliations to achieve the same narrative relief.
Why it works (and why the dosage keeps climbing)
A clean face-slap—verbal, evidential, or situational—restores status, punishes underestimation, and delivers immediate audience catharsis. It works as justice shorthand. It becomes syndrome when one correction is no longer enough and the story (or the viewer) begins requiring banquet-level, multi-witness, career-ending variants to feel the same release. Public delivery maximizes the hit. Private aftermath reveals the temporary nature of the high. True motives of the slapper may be righteous; the protocol simply escalates the required spectacle. Intrigue, evidence drops, favor reversals, and social assassination all scale upward to meet rising tolerance.
Situations it is used in
- Public dosing: banquets, courts, company meetings, or family tables where the slap lands with maximum witnesses
- Private withdrawal: the quiet hours afterward in which the satisfaction fades and new arrogance appears
- Intrigue structured specifically to set up the next, larger correction
- Disguise of the upcoming slap maintained until the reveal window
- Favor and status abruptly reversed in front of the original mockers
- Intimidation completed by the humiliation itself
- Assassination of the arrogant party’s standing, often multi-phase
- Male and female deliverers and recipients: both fully eligible
- The diagnostic craving for a bigger room and a louder correction
- Later review in which earlier, smaller slaps are reclassified as merely the introductory dose
Soft clinic
Soft: a clean correction can still be righteous. Wanting the arrogant party to lose face does not automatically make the desire pathological.
Mirror clinic
Mirror: Public Humiliation Dosage Protocol engaged. Tolerance rising. Next face-slap will require additional witnesses and higher stakes. Ordinary justice no longer meets clinical threshold.
Regional flavor
- Korea: K: present but often secondary to other spectacle. Face corrections occur; full withdrawal-and-escalation cycles are less systematically industrialized than in some other traditions. Soft clinic still validates the satisfying correction. Mirror clinic notes moderate dosage requirements.
- China: C: high-prevalence, core strain. Banquet and public face-slaps are endemic; tolerance builds quickly and larger humiliations are frequently prescribed. Soft clinic honors the righteous reversal. Mirror clinic points at the reliable escalation curve of the protocol.
- Japan: J: lower-volume presentation. Direct public face destruction is less common; corrections tend to be smaller and more restrained, slowing tolerance buildup. Soft clinic still recognizes the satisfaction. Mirror clinic observes that reduced dosage culture limits full syndrome expression.
